Going to the Circus ~Tulsa, Ok Discovery Lab

We had not been to the Discovery Lab in a while and were surprised to catch this fun exhibit right before it ended! It was all about the science behind the circus and was a huge hit with my kids! So much so that we ended up going 4 or 5 times in the week before it left. The high wire and the cables were the favorites for my twins. We even brought a friend and she loved it too! These guys went crazy in the dress up area once. So fun!!!

It is gone now but they have a fun “Floor is Lava” exhibit now that is kind of a parkour type obstacle course.

I will share more about that later!

Did you check out the circus exhibit while it was there?

Dinosaurs and hiking thanksgiving weekend

We headed to Norman, OK on the day after Thanksgiving to use our membership to Sam Noble Museum of Natural History before it expires. They have a new exhibit every couple of months (I believe) and right now they have Osage Wedding Dresses.

The kids love doing the scavenger hunt.

One of the statues had a spear… Their exhibits are so impressive. Next stop was Thunderbird State Park for a hike. They have a nice nature center also but it was not open. We did the Hendon’s Highway loop in the Clear Bay Area from an alltrails.com recommendation but it was a little boring for most of the kids. Most of my kids do better with something to climb on. The twins had stepped up on this bent tree so I got on to surprise them and squish them.

We all fit!

I actually preferred this day to the day before.

All the cooking was a bit stressful and the cold rain kept us inside most of the day.

Turning 36

I hesitate to put my age out there, not because I don’t want you to know but because I am often wrong…

I am pretty sure that I am 36 though, maybe.

And here is how I spent my first day.

First stop was Mt. Magazine on our way home from our campsite. If I had it to do again I would have skipped this because it ended up being a long detour but I loved being on that mist covered mountain. Beautiful.

We went on the trail to the highest point in Arkansas.

The whole hike was so beautiful. Made it! Next up was the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge. This one was pretty close to our route home already but I was still not sure we should add even more to our trip especially with the weather turning cold and rainy.

But it ended up being stunning. So many birds! And the cloudy skies were so pretty for pictures. Can you believe this is in Oklahoma?

We did go for a walk on their walking path which was beautiful as always and freezing. We saw that one of my favorite bridges was broken.

Yikes

It was a pretty day.

What kinds of things do you like to do on your birthday?
