Museum of Osteology ~OKC, OK

This place is really cool and the staff is super friendly.

The Museum of Osteology or if you are like me the Bone Museum(I did not want to fumble the name when I said it out loud) is small but like nothing I have seen before.

They provide scavenger hunts and give a prize out for finishing.

Little bit was sure she was doing exactly what the big kids were doing…

It is oddly fascinating to see all these animals just as skeletons.

There are two floors to the museum and it is laid out like a box, with displays along the perimeter as well as bigger displays in the middle.

Check out the Skulls Unlimited site to see some cool videos about how they clean the bones.

The even had Mike Rowe do a dirty jobs with them!

I look up if museums have scavenger hunts before we go.

They are such great learning tools.

I like how they made these skeletons come to life.

The snakes still looked menacing.

The museum offers so much to touch.

I wanted a pic of Little bit to show the scale of the elephant.

Of course my other children walked into the shot…

I am not sure how often we will end up going but I am so glad we went at least once!

It was such a unique museum to see!

Indian Territory Days ~Tahlequah, OK

IndianHeritageDaysI have never been to the Cherokee Heritage Center so I was pretty happy to attend their Indian Territory Days event!

For the event they had games and stations for the kids to learn about the culture.

storytellerThe boys were really excited to listen to the story teller.

Unfortunately there were a lot of older kids in there with us and they begged for a really scary story.

It was way too creepy and intense and we had to leave.

The Gateway Arch and The Museum of Westward Expansion ~St. Louis, MO

archcloseOne of the main reasons I wanted to take an extra day on our trip to Indiana was so that we could stop in St. Louis!

The last time we stopped was 4 years ago!!!

aarch13This was from that trip.

It was taken at an old church near the arch.

I was hoping to take a new picture but it was under construction.

Look at those babies!

For some odd reason my boys do not even remember this trip…

closearchWe pass the Arch twice and year but after so many trips past it you kind of forget to stop and actually enjoy it.

After seeing this blog post at Currently Wandering I was determined to stop this time.

Really go check out her blog, she is traveling with her family in an airstream and has some amazing travel info!

archbwThe Arch is so amazing close up!

vistorcenterI had not been in the Visitor Center since I was a child!

I found the original Earth bag house…

Look it up.

archWe did not go to the top this time around.

I did make everyone walk around the whole Arch just to make sure I did not want yet another angle for pictures though.

capitolThere’s was more hobbling than walking from Nick and I, thanks to the hike the day before.
