Little House on the Prairie Museum ~Independence, KS

alittleDSC_8701

We stopped at the Little House on the Prairie Museum on our way up to see family in Minnesota.

Laura Ingalls Wilder lived here with her parents when she was a child and it inspired the series of books she later wrote.

They have an old post office and school that they moved to the location as well.

It was really neat to see the cabin that is a replica of the one she lived in.

I am hoping that seeing the spot that inspired the books would help them come to life so I bought these two while there!

I found it really interesting that in the books they journey from Minnesota to Kansas and we were heading to Minnesota as well!

Museum of the Great Plains ~Lawton, OK

We went to the Museum of the Great Plains while camping at the Wichita Wildlife Refuge.

The first time we went to this museum it was filled with a lot of static exhibits that were not much fun for my kids.

This time was a pleasant surprise.

aamusDSC_5419

Almost everything was hands on!

My kids enjoyed this museum so much and so did I!!!!

The tornado shelter simulator is terrifying and amazing.

It really feels like you are waiting out a tornado in a shelter.

This is how they taught them what the parts of the bison were used for.

Amazing.

Everything was set up to let my kids step back in time and imagine.

They are a part of the Oklahoma Museum Network so we got to see something we are familiar with!

Tape Slides!

We visit the Tulsa Children’s Museum often so my kids have been playing on their tape slide for a while.

They have even more cool stuff outside!

This was our favorite part on our previous visit.

aamusDSC_5605

They have a fort set up outside.

aamusDSC_5663

The enemy looks a lot like a bunny…

aamusDSC_5667 aamusDSC_5671

I highly recommend going to this museum!

Especially if you have kids!

The best part is if you have an Oklahoma Museum Network membership it includes this museum!

So no extra cost!

Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum ~Seminole, OK

It had been a while for some of my kids since we last came to the Jasmine Moran Children’s Museum and some had never been.

aajasDSC_3708

It is like a children’s village inside a building.

Complete with a plane cockpit sticking out of a wall…

aajasDSC_3716 aajasDSC_3748 aajasDSC_3767

They can pretend to be teachers.

aajasDSC_3776

Around each corner is a different way to play and pretend.

We get the OMN membership added onto our Tulsa Children’s Museum membership so we can get 5 people in this museum using that.

Every time we go I forget how big it is…

Why do kids bounce back so quickly?

Why can’t they be worn out all day like adults after going to places like this?
