Frog Jumping Contest & Turtle Race

blackgold

I love going to small town festivals.

They have some of the best events!

Black Gold Days in Glenpool is a small nearby festival.

I was so excited to see they had a Frog Jumping contest!

They are so much fun to watch.

Little boys and girls brought frogs of all sizes to compete with.

Some where not very competitive feeling…

My favorites are the ones that jump into the crowd.

Picture people jumping around and girls screaming.

Hilarious.

Next up were the turtle races.

This is how they keep the turtles contained until it is race time.

There is just a big circle drawn around them.

First one to reach the outside of the circle wins.

There was a turtle fashion show also.

So funny!

If you are not sure how to find events like this in your area just look up festivals, go to their page, and look up events.

I try to always look up the event list before going to a festival.

You get to see so many fun things that way!

Anyone have a festival they never miss?

OKC Zoo

I said in the post I did on the OKC History Center that I would show you our trip to the OKC Zoo also and I never did!

Oops…

Better late then never, right?

Since we go to the Tulsa Zoo a lot, I could not help but compare the two during this trip.

This one did have a water play area that looks like a creek.

With how hot our summers are this would be really nice to have in the Tulsa one as well.

The exhibits were kind of bigger and more impressive looking then the Tulsa Zoo but the problem with that was the boys were more interested in the exhibit then the animals.

They did get bonus points for having a Red Panda!

So cute!

This zoo feels bigger and we were not even able to finish it.

I was completely worn out.

Even though I think it is bigger, I do not think there are more animals then the Tulsa one.

At least not that I could tell.

Baby Elephant!

We had fun and the boys really enjoyed getting to go to a different zoo.

I am glad to know that I can go to the closer zoo without feeling like I am missing out too much though.

It is nice that I have two zoo’s close enough that I can choose which one I want to go to!

I am so spoiled.

Oklahoma History Center ~OKC

My boys and I headed to the Oklahoma History Center earlier this week while my husband was out of town.

I figured I should just keep them going the whole time he was gone to get all that little boy energy out.

It worked in draining energy.

On me…

The building is very impressive.

I liked that they had touchable areas for kids!

They had a little mock set of “OKLAHOMA”! My boys loved it!

They got dressed up, went up there and sang the song.

There is a tv they can see themselves on while singing also.

Another touchable exhibit.

Being a part of the land run.

They really like touch screens!

My babies are off to war…

Little photographer.

I made sure I got myself in a shot.

My youngest is really into crazy posing right now.

We really liked the oil derricks that you could walk right up to.

They are so big!

We had a great time!

This was not our only stop though, we went to the OKC Zoo next!

It was a LONG day!

I will share pics of that later.

Have you ever been to the History Center in OKC?

I did not even know it was there until recently!
