Bixby Bike Path

bikeride

Over memorial day weekend we went for a bike ride on the bike paths in Bixby!

Nick is training for an upcoming race and we are too slow for him…

train

He ran, we rode.

It was actually pretty nice.

bikes

The trail starts in Bentley Park and continues to become the Bixby Fry Creek Trail for 2 miles.

In total you can get around 9 miles round trip if you go end to end.

frycreek

I did figure out that I am not used to sitting on a bike for that long.

Ouch…

side

This really is a very pretty trail.

It is less crowded than the riverside trails as well.

I like that for the boys.

park

I am always nervous they are going to run into someone on riverside.

Do you ride bikes as a family?

Do you have a favorite path in the Tulsa area?

Prague Lake Trail, Prague OK

I found the Prague Lake Trail on bestoklahomatrails.com.

They have a really nice list of trails!

praguelake

I have used them before but it seems like I forget about them a lot!

This is an 8 mile loop mostly around the lake.

We started out on the smaller loop across the road and then continued to the one around the lake.

In total our hike was 8.1 miles.

You can view the route we took on Endomondo, here.

It shows a map of where the trail was.

There are a lot of off shoot trails as well.

entrance

The other entrance is by the horse corrals near where you park.

trail

Some of the path was open and some was really close with a lot of wading through tall grass.

Taking an opportunity to cool off.

us

It was hot!

My brain thought 90’s was cool because of the 100’s the week before…

uphill

I did figure out that 90’s was still really hot though.

tall

I am shocked we did not get any ticks!

I would recommend doing this trail in the cooler weather when you did not have to worry about them.

I am guessing that this is for horses?

Pretty lake!

end

It was a nice trail and not very far away!

I would not mind doing this one again in November or December!

Wide-Open Wednesdays at the Cowboy Museum ~Day 3

The National Cowboy & Heritage Museum in OKC is hosting Wide-Open Wednesdays until November 19th!

Free Admission on Wednesdays!

I went online and searched for a scavenger hunt for my boys and two nephews before we went.

Here is the link, http://cowboykids.nationalcowboymuseum.org/prin_trai.html

museumhunt

I knew without the scavenger hunt it could get really interesting with four boys just walking around looking at art…

I like how scavenger hunts like this make them look at all of the paintings.

cowboy

They have a children’s area also.

Be sure to stop by the old west town!

I feel like it is kind of hidden a bit but it is on the map so make sure you don’t walk by it.

Most of it is too dark for pictures but they had the children’s play area…I mean jail lit.

Don’t worry we gave them some bread and water…
