Megalodon ~Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History

We went to see the Megalodon Exhibit at the Sam Noble Oklahoma Museum of Natural History before it left and as a bonus found snow!My kids were so excited with this little bit of snow!

We ended up getting a membership because it cost almost the same as one visit for our family.

We run into this often as a larger family.

This museum had a great deal for large families though!

$45 for 2 adults and unlimited children!

We have often had to pay for additional children because a family membership only includes 2-4 children.

My second oldest loves everything dinosaur and ancient so this was an early birthday trip for him.

I asked him if he wanted to go see the Megalodon Exhibit before it left or wait and do something closer to his birthday and he said see the Megalodon Exhibit.

He was a bit disappointed with the amount of information about Megalodons in the exhibit and said he wished they had a scale replica of one though.

He seemed to still find it interesting though and always enjoys looking at the dinosaur exhibits at this museum so I am glad we got a membership and can hopefully go again a few more times this year.

They did have a lot of nice hands on things in the exhibit which is always nice.

This tuna display showing how much fish a Megalodon would eat in a day was a big hit with all of my kids.

We have discussed if he could make a living as an archeologist several times.

I used to want to be one also so I get it.

He often knows more information than they have on the exhibit and was asking a worker about one of their casts.

I think he was hoping it was the original but it was a copy.

Our youngest is not as big a fan of life size dinosaurs…

I like the exhibits upstairs the most.

This one showing the different habitats in Oklahoma is especially neat when you have been to all of them.

I always wonder what is going through his mind when he gets quiet like this.

He could talk about dinosaurs all day.

The Tallgrass Prairie exhibit was even more interesting since we were just there.

Their elevators are so much fun!

Do you have a dinosaur enthusiasts in your house?

We went camping for Christmas!

We wanted to do a trial camping trip with our new puppy but wanted to stay pretty close to home in case it went badly.

Osage Hills State Park was a perfect choice!

It was not very far away from our house and is a favorite hiking spot for us.

In fact my oldest went on his first hike there when he was one month old!

There were only a few other people camping so we had a huge area for the kids to play.
Milo did great on his first camping trip and loved hiking!

We saw so many Armadillo that I didn’t even look anymore when one of the kids yelled they saw one.

Ha

While up that way we went to the Tallgrass Prairie Preserve.

So many Bison and some beautiful hiking trails!

We went to see Christmas Lights in Bartlesville at Johnstone Park.

We did a lot of hiking.

And we checked out the Hulah Lake Wildlife Management Area and Wha Sha She Park(used to be state park).

We did not hit the WMA at the best time of day so I did not see much.

And the park was kind of run down with not much there.

They were both in pretty areas though.

We headed home on Christmas Eve after one more hike. I think if I had a tradition for the holidays it would be hiking and camping.

Now I just need to convince my kids to go on a Christmas hike every year…

3 more state parks checked off!

Nick made the mistake of mentioning the fact that his Grandparents liked to visit every state park in MN.

It kind of lit a fire under me to visit all the Oklahoma State Parks and on our last trip we get to hit up three more!

We have about three state parks left and some Grand Lake Areas to go before we have been to them all since we have moved here.

So here are some of the parks we stopped at and what we thought.

Hugo Lake State Park The Bois De Arc Trail was a nice paved trail but pretty run down looking. We did not see much else for us to do there since we mostly like to hike and go to playgrounds. The kids liked watching birds at Hugo Lake Dam. Raymond Gary State Park was a nice small park. It was definitely not a place we would drive hours to camp at but the playground was a nice stop to end our day. We also stopped at Clayton Lake State Park but I could not find anything to do there so I did ended up not even taking one picture!

So if you have been to that state park let me know what you like to do there.

Do you have a goal to see all of something?
