Canoeing on Okmulgee Lake

We spent Sunday afternoon in a canoe on Okmulgee Lake.

He asked if I wanted to work on my steering.

I said no.

All I could picture was my tipping us over or steering us right into the side of a boat…

He loves to put his fingers in the water as we go along.

Beautiful evening to explore Oklahoma!

We saw many herons, egrets, and fish.

The little bird up in the tree in this pic is a Green Heron.

We do not see them as often but this trip we saw several.

They crack me up because they hide more than fly away.

And they are GOOD at it!

I would stare at a spot I knew they went to and not see them!

First time bringing binoculars.

It was a great idea!

Taking a nap.

It smelled wonderful!

These yellow flowers were blooming all over the woods.

My favorite thing is taking these little streams(whatever they are called) off the main area.

It is always beautiful and it makes me feel like an explorer!

I never really grew up…

We let the boys wade for a bit when we got back to where we parked.

This little guy slipped and panicked.

It was not pretty.

He was totally safe, he had a life jacket on and was in shallow water.

I think swimming lessons are going to have to happen very soon…

Did you get outside last weekend?

Going to Miss This ~Haircuts

I have so many memories of sitting on a stool in my parents kitchen while my mom cut my hair.

Usually there was a line of us waiting for our turn.

I have 4 siblings so I wonder if at times my mom felt like she had her own salon…

I will not always get to cut my boys hair.

They might want someone that actually knows what they are doing or even have their wife do it for them.

I am going to cherish these little haircuts.

They are fleeting and precious.

Have you stopped to cherish a fleeting moment today?
