Talimena Scenic Drive

All I wanted for my birthday was mountains(or as close as you can get to them in Oklahoma) and a fall family picture.

My husband drove me all of the way to Ouachita Mountains and back in one day.

Long drive but I was happy to be there.

I would move there in a heartbeat.

It is always a good idea to make sure you don’t forget the tripod if one of your goals on a trip is a family pic.

I ended up balancing my camera on my camera bag and even on the hood of our vehicle.

Oops.

We went on lots of short hikes which is a little bit different than what we used to do but such is life with a toddler.

Maybe next time we can stay the night and get some more hiking in.

And yes, I did think it was odd that I wanted to stay in a vehicle with 5 kids all day for my birthday.

HA!

Favorites from June 2015 ~Adoption

Blueberry picking with friends.

My friend was convinced our daughters were going to be great friends.

I was more sceptical since they did not really get along but a year later she was right.

They are great friends.

Little bit was also crazy about the blueberries.

We had the younger twin stay with for a few days this month.

It was a great chance to get an idea of what we would need to know later on when she lived with us.

And she got to spend some one on one time with her little sister.

Little bit was more comfortable around the boys after a month with us so I got lots of cute pics of them together!

We celebrated Little bits birthday a little late.

I was not thinking about her wanting pictures of it until after she had been with us for a few weeks.

I am so glad we did this!

Now she gets to have 1st birthday pics!

Them together makes my heart melt.

So sweet.

This is what happens when you have big brothers.

So cute.

These events just make me happy.

The people at them love history and enjoy sharing that love and knowledge with people.

I am so glad we popped in on the way to the Talimena Drive for my birthday.

History really comes to life at these events.

You feel like you have stepped back in time.

If nothing else I hope they came away thinking that history is interesting and alive.

And that it prepped them for the really long drive we took that day to the Ouachita Mts. HA!
