My opportunity to think pink

My friend Stephanie over at A Creative Fox decided to give me a little time to think pink.

Her husband planned a weekend BY THEMSELVES (unheard of for parents of small children) and she let me watch her two precious little girls!

My boys love them and once they came to our house, thought they should stay forever.

I tried to explain that we did need to give them back.

My oldest is still not sure why.

Thank you Stephanie for letting me peek into the world of pink.

Some of these pics are from the week before when I watched them for a few hours.

I like to think of it as a warm up for the next weekend…

Is there anything better then a friend pushing you on a swing?

Yep, capturing it on the camera!

At the end of the weekend I was convinced I could not handle four kids right now.

I forgot to eat and did not care.

Four meals to prepare.

Four bedtimes.

Four naptimes.

Four coats to be put on and four shoes (eight shoes! I did not let them all run around with one shoe on!).

Then this one decided to pull out all the stops on the last day…

And just like that, I want a little girl again.

I think my husband might have whiplash from how often I change my mind…

Sisters

I just did a session of a family of six with four girls. It brought back so many memories of the laughter and joking that went on in my house with my three older sisters!

The way they interacted with their mom made me laugh and think. Do boys do this when they are older? Do you have the same bond with a grown son as you do with a daughter?

I have two boys and have thought about adopting more kids. I go back and forth, changing my mind weekly(or daily).

This family was beautiful to watch and I am glad that I got a chance to walk down memory lane. I have a lot to think about and I need to change my mind a couple more times today while I finish editing their session.

Here is a sneak peek into Tara’s Family session:

See, this makes me want girls again…

What I want from you.

I wanted to share my thoughts on how we can work together to make your photography session with me turn out the best pictures of you and your family.

First, relax. Children pick up on your unease and it shows on you and them in the pictures. So take a deep breath, find that happy place, and eat some chocolate if needed (it helps me).

I have two boys and they do not like to cooperate for the camera, so if your children don’t want to smile for a complete stranger it does NOT bother me! They just need a little time to get to know me.

Secondly, try to dress your children in clothing that they can get a little dirty. It is okay to dress them in nice clothes but make sure they are not so nice they can not feel free to be themselves. I love it when a child is so wrapped up in the world around them they forget I am even there! So let them explore a little bit. And that goes for the parents also. Please dress in a way that interacting with your children during the pictures will be possible.

That brings me to my third and final thought.

Interaction. I love it when parents get down with their children and interact with them during a shoot! A child receiving their parents attention gives the most beautiful smiles ever. Those looks of love really translate breathtakingly to pictures!

So when you come to a session with me be prepared to be yourself and have some fun.

Thank you.
