Maramec Spring Park ~St. James, MO

This is a beautiful park in Missouri!

Maramec Spring Park is not too far outside of St. Louis and a short distance away from Interstate 40.

They have these pools filled with trout!

There were so many, it seemed unreal.

They have beautiful paths for you to walk along the river.

They have several feeding stations set up also.

Someone was super nice and gave us some quarters they did not need, so we could feed the fish.

My kids were just searching the ground for fish food people had dropped since we did not bring any quarters.

They had a nice museum to go to.

There was another also but I found we all did better outdoors after being in a vehicle for hours…

The kids really liked this watershed display.

It really rained.

This is a great spot to stop for us on trips to Indiana.

Can’t wait to go there again!

Newt Graham Lock and Dam ~Broken Arrow, OK

We are studying the Erie Canal and since it had a lock, I wanted the boys to see one.

We have two within a two hour drive of us so I chose the closest and we headed out there.

It was a Friday afternoon and pretty dead.

Ha!

Steller planning I tell you.

I was really hoping we would get there at a time the lock was being used but it was still cool to see.

It was insteresting to see some of the barges that fit in the lock.

They seem too big!

We drove around to the other side to see the dam.

I think I will call ahead next time and find out when they have barges coming through but it was still a fun trip 🙂

If we lived closer, the Lock would be a fun place to eat lunch and watch for boats.

They even have a picnic area right next to it.
