MN Trip ~Day 3 Tamarac

roadcolor

We took everyone but my youngest nephew to Tamarac National Wildlife Refuge on Monday.

It was beautiful!

We ended up going again on our last day to the festival there.

I will share those later.

They have a nice little nature center that the kids enjoy.

I think we have done the Old Indian Trail every time we have gone there.

This is the first time my niece has joined us though!

She wanted to hold both our hands.

It was pretty adorable.

Just a couple of us went on a second hike to the dam.

A deer jumped up from some brush right next to the trail.

I was so shocked I just stared at it.

No pics…

Tiger Salamander!

birds

I think these guys were Grebe’s.

They startled whenever the swans would fly over and the sound of their beating wings on the water was incredible.

boys

Of course the boys decided they should startle them instead of waiting for a swan…

landscape

It was an absolutely beautiful day!

Definitely a great stop for the area!

They have easy short trails as well as long ones so be sure to stop by!

If you do not want to hike they also have a nature drive!

We drove all night and got there around 1 or 2 in the morning on Saturday.

My boys always bounce right up in the morning, ready to play.

I walked ahead of everyone.

There is something about walking alone in the woods that just makes me breath deep and relax.

I spent a lot of time walking in the woods behind my parents house growing up.

It was one of my favorite places to be.

Nick was stalking us from above.

road3

Nick and I headed back to Maplewood to catch some pics in the evening light.

It was cloudy…

I decided to roll with it.

Tripod and interval timer to the rescue.

leaf

Maplewood is a beautiful park!

Make sure you go if you live in the area!

Do you have beautiful fall colors where you live?

I am going to miss this ~Gap Toothed Smile

tilt

My youngest lost another front tooth recently and I can’t stop smiling every time I see that gap.

tongue

Of course he did not want to cooperate when I wanted a picture of it.

grin

I finally got it though.

I will miss that slight lisp and that childlike smile.

Those baby teeth will be gone one day and I want to cherish this right of passage as much as I can.

He makes silly faces every time he catches me smiling at him.

I love this boy.
