Fall in the Keystone Ancient Forest with 5 kids

I took SO MANY pictures!!!

I think the knowledge that I would be able to share them soon made me go crazy.

This was the weekend before the adoption and I could not stop smiling about getting to share these pics.

Such a perfect fall day.

“M” likes to wear a backpack on hikes with a few snacks and water.

She is in the pink.

Yes I did take a hundred pics of the girls holding dad’s hand.

It’s adorable.

Little bit always wants a ride.

Someone did not like the crisp fall air.

Always trying to see what big brothers are doing.

So adorable!

They thought her long arms were pretty funny.

I waited for years for this place to open.

I am so glad they finally did it!

It is only open on select Saturday’s though so you need to check their facebook page before you go.

Deep Fork Wildlife Refuge ~Okmulgee, OK

We went to three different wildlife area’s in the Deep Fork Wildlife Refuge last month!

It is such a beautiful place with so much to see.

Our first walk was at the White Oak Area.

We have never been before and it is basically a wide open field like area.

I would love to go in the early morning or right before dark to look for animals.

Our second hike was near the Wildlife Office.

Lots of silly faces…

Third walk was at the Boardwalk trail near the Wildlife Office.

It is one of my favorite places to go in the area.

So pretty.

I feel like we qualify for our own homeschool group…

Forestry Departments “Walk in the Forest” ~Turkey Mt. Tulsa, OK

We went to a previous Walk in the Forest event by accident.

It is so much fun though I am glad we stumbled upon it that first time.

And that we got invited this time!

They had these trail books that the kids could fill out for a prize at the end.

The boys really liked this stump with not just dates for the tree rings but what was going on at the time!

Such a great idea.

There were stations set up throughout the woods with activities and information.

At this one they learned about the different types of forests in Oklahoma.

This one was on invasive plant and insect species.

They learned about how to tell how old a tree is and that big does not necessarily mean old.

They had a station about all the different products that use parts of trees.

Then at the end they gave out a little Loblolly Pine!

I am hoping we don’t kill it.

The kids got to pick a prize from the prize table for finishing their books!

This is a great event if you have a reluctant hiker or just want to learn more about the woods!
