They are racing for the shade.

It was a little bit hot.

The education center was closed when we went.

I am not sure if it is only used for school trips and stuff?

Martin Park Nature Center

We found out that the nature center was closed for construction after we got there.

So you will want to check the status of that before you go.

This place had really nice easy walks but we ran into seed ticks while there. I am wondering if it was from the bridge or tower.

We stayed in the middle of the path and usually can avoid them if we don’t brush up against grass.

Thankfully a baby wipe got a lot of them off.

Acadia Lake State Parks

We actually parked here so Little Bit could take a nap!

It was really hot that day but by parking in the shade right next to the lake, it was not bad at all.

This trail does not seem to get much use.

The farther we went the smaller the trail so we turned around.

I try not to take trails that are too narrow in the summer here.

Sure enough we got ticks from this one as well.

Arcadia Lake is really pretty though and has lots of camping options.

Might need to make an rv trip here someday.

OKC Zoo ~Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

azooDSC_1376

My husband needed to go to OKC for work for three days so we decided to join him for a few of them.

We had not been to the OKC Zoo in a while so we stopped there first after dropping him off.

Those water bottles were in their mouths 90% of the time…

We basically go to the zoo to sit on animal statues.

Do they have an animal statue zoo?

That would probably be a big hit.

The zookeeper tried but could not get any birds to go on “M”.

Lots of little fingers were pecked.

Ha

It was a pretty hot day(in the 90’s) but the kids drank a lot of water and they had misting stations everywhere.

azooDSC_1489 azooDSC_1507

The twins favorite thing to do at zoo’s is feed fish.

Thankfully this zoo had fish feeders like the Tulsa zoo.

I feel like the Giant Anteater should be something in a star wars movie.

So odd looking.

azooDSC_1528

The misting station was making her hair look white since the little droplets were just sitting on top of her hair.

Snakes!

I really like their Oklahoma exhibits.

It helps the kids know what animals we have in our state.

azooDSC_1570 azooDSC_1576

The girls liked the prairie dogs.

azooDSC_1584

This boy likes to read every sign.

He reminds me of the robot in Short Circuit.

“Need input”

azooDSC_1586 azooDSC_1589 azooDSC_1593

This bear was sprawled out on the glass, to keep cool I would assume.

azooDSC_1596 azooDSC_1608

I was reminded why I don’t go often alone with five kids but we survived!

That’s the important thing.
