Around our Homeschool room 2014

I thought it was time to shared some updated pics of our homeschool room.

I have shared pieces here and there but I thought this way you could see how we use the whole space.

homeschoolroomI still love the table my husband built for me!

We have chairs but the boys usually lose them due to tipping them.

They seem to do better standing anyway.

cabinetsMy craft area is to the right when you walk into the room.

totesI really load those cabinets (something else my husband made) and totes with supplies.

The totes hold things I do not need often like Math Manipulative’s for later lessons.

kitsInside the cabinets are science kits, art supplies, and craft supplies.

wirebasketI have way more craft supplies than I actually use but at least with so much on hand I can still do those crafts I think up at the last minute.

craftareaThe bookcase under the cabinets holds all of my craft stuff, educational games, and the boys art supplies.

biblessideThe window seat is where I spend most of the school hours.

I had always dreamed of having one so my husband built it for me as a gift!

I keep some old encyclopedias, my dictionary collection(yes, I collect old dictionaries), and text books we have picked up in the bookcase on the left.

oldbooksdictionaryIn the bookcase on the right is my husbands bible collection as well as a lot of our spiritual books.

craftThat is also where my husband put my little craft nook!

On the left when you walk into the room is my keyboard and some posters that go with what we are studying.

I stuck our Magnetic board for All About Spelling on the back of the door with picture hanging command strips.

For hanging the posters and sometimes artwork, I just used nails and picture hanging wire.

wireI just put two small nails in the wall and twisted the wire around it!

It has been almost two years and it is still holding up great!

aigposter poster clipsI got the clips from Joann’s.

doorsideThis bookcase holds our curriculum and books for the boys.

narniaI put the books I would like them to read down where they can reach them.

schoolbooksWe have used these magazine holders for a couple years now for our school books and I still really like them!

I like how they keep it contained and organized.

mathareaAll of our Math Manipulative’s that we are currently using stay in this little tub.

classicslazysusanI do not think that a room is necessary to teach your children but I do enjoy using this space.

I am so glad it has not become a storage closet again(AKA junk room!).

Around my school room/Library/Craft space

I like to use a space to it’s fullest!

So I call the room we are currently doing school in a lot of things.

I do not know if I should be glad or worried that the boys always know what I am talking about…

I made some small changes over the weekend to our room.

I made a top for the table to give us some more elbow room and stop things from dropping in between the slats.

This is what it used to look like.

It looks totally different, right!

I bet you did not even know it was the same room!

Sorry for the sarcasm.

I had to.

My poor husband came in the door Friday night after working late and was attacked with requests to cut a table top and throw in a desk while he was at it.

I decided I need a bigger work area for big projects without loosing too much space.

So I thought the shelf up.

I learned it is not easy to tell someone else to build something for you that you only have in your head…

Sorry BABY!!!!

It works great!

I of course decided to spend all weekend rearranging the room!

He tried to not laugh at me.

I decided to hang up more of my crafts stuff so I would actually use it!

Out of sight out of mind…

I have had those fall stickers for way too many years.

Time to use them or get rid of them!

I decided to make our schedule pretty.

I had it written on a notebook that I kept loosing before!

It is still currently lost and I was too lazy to look for it so I printed up one.

Do not ask me how that is less work.

The globe has nothing to do with teaching my children.

I just always envisioned my library having a globe.

I let them look at it once in a while…

If they do not breath on it.

I like to have a lot of easy chapter books where my oldest can reach them!

Sorry about the blurry picture!

I am too lazy to fix it now.

Our stack of library books that I am hoping to get through this month and the Alphabet rocks my friend made me.

Where I keep our curriculum we use daily.

We are learning about explorers this month so I thought I would put out my compasses and sextant!

The boys are not the only one’s with toys…

Library Before&After

My library has a new floor!

And less junk…

In case you did not remember how much junk, here is the before.

There is a beautiful window seat buried under all that stuff.

My husband made it along with all the bookcases(he is so handy) for me.

My new floors!

I did get rid of a lot of junk but some of it is being stored in the shed.

We are redoing the floors in the Master bedroom, hallway, living room, and dining room.

We(by “we” I mean my husband) already did new floors in the boys room. Those pictures will be up later.

I guess the true test will be if all the house can look like this at the same time and I am not just moving stuff from room to room.

The corkboard in the shot below is something I put together. The frame is from our old screen door.

I did not make the cork thick enough though so it was really hard to use push pins on it.

I put picture frame mats on it so I can slide things into place that I want to look at.

I am actually pretty happy with how it turned out.

This is my little craft area.

It is funny because about half an hour after I took these my husband moved the stuff from our bedroom in here so he could start on the new flooring in there…

I tried not to cry.

Can’t really complain when he is working so hard(and fast!) to get all the new floors in.

There are more finishing touches to go in here(it looks kind of empty) but I had to hurry so my husband could get started on our bedroom!

Lots of changes!

It is helping kick me into gear about dejunking our house.

Hopefully I can keep up with my husbands pace!
