Deep Fork Wildlife Refuge ~Okmulgee, Ok

We got out on a hike a little bit ago on one of my favorite spots in our area. Deep Fork National Wildlife Refuge. I love the boardwalk trail, so pretty. And the whole walk smelled like honeysuckle this time! We are pretty loud so we usually scare the animals away before we see them. We drove a bit more and went to on the Railroad Trail also, it is such a pretty trail. It is another easy walk. I grabbed Little Bit right before she stepped on this guy. We think he was either a water snake or a cottonmouth. Of course all four of my other kids walked right by him without seeing him… The twins decided to stick a bit closer after that. I don’t know if you can tell but in the above pic we were getting rained on.

It did not last long though.

There were a lot of tadpoles in this puddle by the entrance!

It was a beautiful day!

Hiking the Nature Trails in Beavers Bend State Park

We were going to take the South Park Trail near our campground to the Beaver Creek Trail but…
We didn’t bring waders… This one was not a nature trail but most of the others we went on were.
I took three kids on this next short hike.It was listed as a nature trail. It was right across from the Nature Center.

I never did get to see inside the Center, they kept odd hours and were only open once the whole time we were there.Another beautiful hike.

I only took three kids with me for this hike also. This time we found a good spot to cross and continue on the trail. So pretty.

We all went on the Cedar Bluff Nature Trail together.

It ended up being pretty uphill but the view at the top was beautiful. I get a little crazy about wanting to see everything so I was bummed to realize I missed a few nature trails but the ones we went on were beautiful!

If you have young kids or need an easy hike, look for nature trails.

They are usually short 1-2 miles or even less and pretty easy.

The “Leap of DOOM!” ~Lake McMurtry

My oldest girl and Nick ran in the Lake McMurtry run last month!
This was the only hike I went on. Some camping trips are not as great as others. This place is beautiful it just ended up being a harder trip.

These signs were fun though from the race! She listened to the signs and thought it was too big of a jump. They always make a big deal of this jump. The hype get’s bigger every year. “I’m a camera!” Cutest camera ever! I guess I went on two hikes technically. Nick dropped me off while we were driving and I walked the rest of the way. Sometimes a peaceful walk is just what I need.

This was our second time camping here.

It is really a beautiful campground!

Maybe next time we can hike more of it!
