Confessions of a bookaholic…

I found a blog series all about what is on other people’s bookshelves!

I felt like I had suddenly found many kindred spirits and it inspired me to share some of the more extreme things I have done because of books.

Check out the series at Modern Mrs. Darcy’s blog.

1. When I moved down to Oklahoma to go to school I felt lonely and lost. My parents came down to visit, brought my books, and a bookcase to display them. It made me feel at home and happy to go to my apartment each night.

2. When I first went to my now husbands apartment I was impressed with his book collection. I am not saying that is the only reason I kept seeing him but…

3. I went to meet my soon to be in-laws for the first time. I saw my mother in-laws bookcases filled with books and liked her immediately.

4. I might have pursued a friendship with someone after finding out they were an Austen fan. I felt like we had a mutual friend.

5. Right after we got married my husband made me bookshelves to fill our spare room with and turn it into a library. I still think of it as one of the best gifts I have ever received.

6. I often stop myself from talking about something a friend of mine did because I realize it was a fictional charter in a book and not someone I have actually met…

7. My husband learned early on that I hear nothing when I am reading.

8. Sometimes I get so into a book that I start reading the characters lines out loud…

Book Series for 2nd-5th Grade Boys

ChroniclesOfNarnia1. “Chronicles Of Narnia” by C.S Lewis

I was so excited when my son started reading these!

I ended up getting some on audio tape at the library and after listening to one he started picking up the books!

SugarCreekGang2.  “The Sugar Creek Gang” by Paul Hutchens

What boys would not love a group of fun loving, adventurous, boys?

My oldest(7) has read several in this series and seems to really enjoy them!

AirquestAdventures3. “The Airquest Adventures” by Jerry B. Jenkins

Sudden impact is actually all three books in one.

He also wrote a series called “The Red Rock Mysteries” for the same age.

HardyBoys4. The Hardy Boys

I am so excited that my oldest finally started getting into the Hardy Boys!

Every boy needs to be friends with a couple detectives!

KingdomSeries5. “The Kingdom Series” by Chuck Black

I first read about this author on Pioneer Woman’s when they reviewed his other series “Knights of Arrethtrae”.

It is really good review so be sure to check it out!

The Kingdom Series is written as an Allegory for bible stories!

My oldest just finished the first book and can’t wait to get his hands on the next one!

Here is my post for “Chapter Book Series for 1st Grade Boys”

Do you have any favorite book series for boys?

30 Day Project ~Day 3 “Magic Tree House”

day3aboveOne of my favorite tips I read when I was first learning about photography was to change your angle.

day3To this day I still try to look from as many angles as possible.

downlowI was laying under the table for this one.

My boys are so used to my odd behavior they do not even notice.

handThat this boy is reading Magic Tree House books all on his own still gets to me.

readingI brought them with me to the dentist the other day and they both read for the whole hour.

aboveWhile in the waiting room I had no clue what to do with no one needing or wanting my attention.
