Greenleaf State Park for my son’s sixteenth birthday!

When we got on the road I was thinking how that went pretty well. Then…

Not what you want to see happen while driving down the road.

Thankfully I married a fixer. He did a temporary patch to get us down the road.
We had the best spot!

I am so glad we didn’t miss this!

His last day as a fifteen year old was pretty great 😉
The kids said they liked the Chandler park splashpad better than theirs. And it is a lot cheaper!

The girls liked the crafts table at the Discovery center.

This kid was a great sport even though I dropped the ball on the whole reason for staying in the area. We were planning on going to the Amish Bakery for his b’day but of course they are closed on Sunday. If only someone had checked the hours beforehand…

He still ended up having a great birthday though and I wouldn’t mind staying at Greenleaf again! We did not even get any hiking in 😉

Kansas City Zoo and a castle

This little bit turned 7 and I decided she should finally see her favorite animal in person.
So we drove to Kansas City Wednesday night to go to the zoo on her bday the next day to see the koalas!
They got to feed camels and goats, and pet stingrays also while there!
We stayed at the Blue Springs Campground in Jackson Park and it was great! Two playgrounds within walking distance and at different areas around the lake there were trails, elk and bison herds, and a historic town!
Next up we stayed at Lake of the Ozarks State Park! There is a nice trail system next to the campground but it does take a while to get anywhere else in the park so keep that in mind.
I basically just stayed there so I could go to Ha Ha Tonka State Park to see the castle! It was an interesting stop and the Colosseum trail nearby was nice as well.
If I did it again I would have gone into the Dutch Bakery and Bulk food store! Nick went in with one kid while I sat in the vehicle with the rest but I found out later it is a great place to stock up! The weather was pretty perfect except for a thunderstorm on our last night and we got to see Koalas so I feel like the trip was a success. Even though one of my children might have stopped sleeping and flip flopped all night instead which rocks the camper all night… I love the camper but also having a house that stays still is nice.

I am behind a week.

I am feeling like the weeks all look the same right now and sometimes that makes it harder to document them.

This week was different at least in that it was our youngest birthday which I did a blog post about.

I have been going out every evening and taking a pic which has been nice. Sometimes I am spied on… Sometimes I wish I still took clients because this light is so beautiful.

It is begging for a photo shoot.

Thankfully Milo puts up with my need for a photo shoot.  I took this shot the day before her birthday.

I have had this tradition for many years now.

She is a character. Lots of “pets” are outside right now.

She said she was swimming in the flowers 😉

Do you feel like the days are blending together?

It helps me notice other things that change like new flowers and longer days so I guess that is a good thing.

Things have started opening back up around here but it all feels different still.

Maybe that is just how it will be from now on.
