Tulsa Air and Space Museum (TASM) ~Tulsa, OK

We ended up buying a membership to the Tulsa Air and Space Museum because memberships usually make more sense than paying what it costs for our large family to go once.

I am glad we did because part of the museum was not open.

It would have been really annoying if we did not have the option to come back anyway because it is a really small museum so part of it being closed is a bigger deal than if it was a larger one.

That being said, the staff in the museum were amazing.

They had so much knowledge and shared it over and over with my kids!

They would just finish explaining something to one set of my kids and then turn around and do the same with next set.

Sometimes doing the same thing three times.

And he treated even my littlest like they could do it.

Although it is a small museum there are several hands-on things to do.

He helped them to “land” this hot air balloon.

You stand inside a hot air balloon basket and have to pull the ropes at the right time to land on a bullseye.

There is a small kids area upstairs.

This is the look she gets every time I take too many pics of her.

They have a really nice planetarium also and the show was pretty good.

They ended up adding some stuff to the show and it got a bit long for some of mine.

I also get motion sick from those shows.

Ha

I am excited about going back when we are studying about the Space Race next month!

I am actually happy we went before we started our study as well.

I have found that if you introduce a subject in a fun way before you study it, kids have an easier time learning about it.

How do you get your kids interested in subjects?

A birthday and the Sam Noble Museum

For my second oldest birthday, we were heading home from a camping trip but we stopped at the OKC Natural History Museum on the way home.

I like how hands on the exhibits are.

As a creationist going to a museum like this could seem like a problem but I don’t mind them hearing both sides.

We also learn a lot about the creation side.

You could just go to enjoy the exhibits and not read the boards though if it bothered you.

The exhibits are still put together really well.

We are working on teaching our boys to respectfully listen to people even if they disagree with them, so this was a great opportunity for that.

Less than half of the museum covers prehistoric history.

The top floor is Oklahoma history and the ecosystems in Oklahoma.

The murals are all so amazing.

They are one of my favorite parts.

Breathtaking.

Does anyone else have kids that pretty much just jump from one computer to the next?

This was a perfect stop after staying at Dinosaur Valley State Park!

And a great stop for our Dinosaur loving boy.

I am really enjoying going on trips on our kids birthdays!

So much fun!

Lake Murray State Park ~Ardmore, OK

We got to Lake Murray on a Tuesday and it was almost empty at Buzzard Roost Campground where we stayed.

There are several campgrounds all around the lake but this one was recommended online and had a view of Tucker Tower.

We got a spot on the end with plenty of room for the kids to play.

Isn’t this an amazing backyard?!

Tucker Tower!

The Nature Center by Tucker Tower was closed on the day we got there but they had a small one at the visitor center that the kids checked out.

We took a hike that started at Pecan Grove.

I meant to go on the nature trail that started there but went on a different trail by mistake.

But the trail was pretty and had some fun bridges.

Goofs.

Here is a look at the campsites.

They have water and electric and have nice pads and tables but not much privacy.

It was really nice while we were there but I am not sure I would have liked it if it was full.

Just keep that in mind if you go there.

I could not resist Tucker Tower at sunset.

The twins are usually a handful so I would not have usually taken sunset pics while they were with me but I could not miss this sight.

And maybe it was the sunset or the water(or the long hike we had just done) but they were pretty calm.

This boys birthday was the next day!

10yrs old!

Love this kid.

We were heading home that day but wanted to stop at the Nature Center and Tucker Tower first!

I am so glad we did because they were both beautiful and interesting!

Tucker Tower is a short walk from the Nature Center.

I told him he had to wait for us.

Mostly because I did not want to be left downstairs with five kids…

It feels like a castle!

There are two lookout spots on the tower.

One about midway and the other at the very top.

Beautiful views.

Little Bit tried to give it a kiss she liked it so much…

I really enjoyed our stay at this park!

It ended up being a perfect halfway point between our house and Dinosaur Valley State Park!

If you go, make sure you check out Tucker Tower and the Nature Center!

Here is the video I made of our trip.
